Local Class A CDL Driver-Roll Off Driver - Charlotte , NC

*Job Summary*
The truck driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the shipping and receiving operations. This job will primarily consist of local vehicle operations involving positioning and moving trucks, trailers, and roll-off containers on and between manufacturing or retail and distribution centers. Truck drivers will be expected to cross-train and have the capability to use some or all of the following equipment depending on business demands: van trailers, end dump trailers, walking floor trailers, roll-off trailers and roll-off straight trucks. On occasion, the deliveries will be required throughout the region.

* Operate company owned and leased trucks over 4 tons to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
* Operate trucks for delivery, pickup and relocation of products and materials.
* Perform required before-, during- and after-operation “user maintenance” and provide required reports.
* Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
* Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
* Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition by inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and performing preventative maintenance, using load tarp and diaper.
* Report defects, accidents or violations and complete required paperwork by deadline.
* Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
* Collect and verify delivery instructions.
* Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

*Qualifications / Other Requirements*
* 2+ years of truck driving experience (required)
* Ability to work a flexible schedule that may require varying start/stop times.
* Ability to provide or secure reliable transportation to and from work.
* Adaptability and the ability to run lanes that change routinely based on customer needs.
* Capacity to communicate with dispatch, clients, and on-site personnel in a professional manner.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
* Superior analytical/problem solving, written and verbal communications.

* High school diploma or GED
* CDL license class A
*Physical Demands / Work Environment*
This position is performed in outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. *This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.* The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
*Other Duties*
Truck drivers will be paid based on an hourly rate and compensated only at that rate no matter the number of hours worked in a week.

A driver who drives a truck (gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross combined vehicle weight rating (GCVWR) of over 10,000 pounds) can qualify as exempt from overtime. A driver is not required to spend all his work time driving and may perform other duties while still qualifying as exempt. Examples of drivers eligible for the exemption include:
* drivers who spend part of their time in intrastate commerce in addition to driving in interstate commerce.
* individuals who act as assistants or relief drivers on vehicles in addition to loading, unloading, and similar work
