Local Owner Operator truck drivers, or “Independent Contractors,” own their own truck and are their own boss. An Owner Operator can either own a single truck, have multiple trucks, or even their own small fleet of trucks.
Owner Operators are responsible for operating their business, including any expenses needed to run their own trucking operation. Expenses will include things like maintenance, repairs, fuel, tires, insurance, etc.
Local Owner Operators are also responsible for ensuring their trucks and trucks within their fleet are in compliance with all DOT regulations, and regularly maintained to all standards.
